Piranha Fingerling Black Tactical Plain

The Piranha Knife Company, Located in Idaho. is the maker of these many fine Automatic 100% USA made and built knife designs. These are all constructed from the same T6 alloy and 154-CM or S30V blade steel as their peers, using the same processes for coating and fabrication, however you will notice some pretty major differences in the final product delivered by the Piranha Knife Co that sets them apart from the other makers. Take a closer look!

The biggest immediate stand out is that the Piranha side opening automatics have no visible blade pivots or pivot screws on the front or the back of the knife. This very clean look and functionally flawless aspect of the Piranha side opening automatic has been there since the company shipped its first Fingerling to PVK well over a decade ago. Service to these knives is initially the same as the other designs with final sprung assembly completed by winding the spring down with the top handle, seating it to the bottom and then and adding back the body screws.

The expertly hand honed to razor sharp blades are also 98.5% either black coated or mirror finished. And they will be 100% absent any laser marks of company logos etc. No laser marks or even acid etched birth marks is an unusual thing for any knife like this built these days but that's how they have done it and sets them apart from the rest so it continues with each new design. The company Pedigree marks can be found located on the handle tops. The about to Piranha fish and the word Piranha are located near the fire buttons and are a part of the initial machining process milled into the hand then coated over for a subtle presence.

The near high polish mirror finish on the models listed as mirror are so called because you can really see your near perfect reflection from a few feet away. That's a good finish for carry and it gives these knives a nice custom look matched to their sporty colorful splash finish options. And that's something else you really don't see offered except on occasional models from fellow makers at a higher price.

The big final note here on the very cool knives made by the pretty small Piranha Knife Company is that in 2006/2007 Piranha was able to engineer, manufacture and ship a working dual action OTF design that was hugely superior to the one that Benchmade was building and shipping and Piranha's product still remains superior. The Excalibur, fathered by Piranha and the legendary DKW Sandshark they were holding was born slim and fast with a nice wide blade that fires fast with such an easy touch it seems like there might be a motor hidden somewhere in it. While the Infidel, likely reverse engineered from the Harkins Triton produced by Blackhawk/MOD, was a grossly overweight in the blade to handle ratio with its skinny underpowered blade, very tall fire button and super thick handle. The Excalibur has remained the same since day one delivery with only blade style changes while the other guy has re been forced by a high defect rate to re-engineer several times.
